Chippenham Food Bank 

Amongst other things the food bank in Chippenham acts to provide emergency food to individuals and families in crisis who have been referred by one of a number of agencies within the town.  Based at the Salvation Army in Unity Street, Chippenham, over recent years one or more members of SRMC fellowship have served at the food bank and SRMC itself does what it can to support this work.  More information about the Chippenham Food Bank can be found at the Salvation Army, or about food banks in general from the Trussell Trust.

Unfortunately the provision of emergency food is an ongoing need in Chippenham, as in many other places within the UK.  Within the current situation as a result of COVID-19, this need is even greater.  Adrian Foster, a member of SRMC, is currently actively working at the food bank and he has provided a number of updates of what is going on 
[see below]. 
 

Donations

Donations are always gratefully received.  These can be either food items or financial gifts, as follows:

Food Food donations
Currently food may be taken to the Salvation Army, Foghamshire, Chippenham on Wednesdays 10-3pm, Fridays 10-1pm.  Safe distancing is practiced.  Ideas: tinned vegetable, meat, fish, baked beans, soup.  Pasta, rice, cereals, cook-in sauces, tea, coffee, long-life milk.  Ring-pull tins preferred. Foodstuffs of any size but smaller ones are ideally suitable for single persons.
Money Cash donations:
Cheque, made payable to 'Salvation Army', with name written on the back.  Can be dropped off in person or posted:  Salvation Army, Foghamshire, Chippenham, SN15 1HB.  Insert name/address details if receipt is required.

June 14th 2020 The Food Bank continues to support so many in our community whose daily living has become even more desperate; after so many weeks: "Our figures from last week are in!  Thank you so much to everyone who continues to support us as we try to meet the unprecedented demand at the moment.  We are so grateful for the continued donations on our Just Giving page as well as donations dropped off and placed in our Morrisons donation collection box.  Thanks to National Trust who have given us 3840 Easter eggs [!!!!!] and Morrisons Supermarket who have been so supportive in giving us surplus food and food earmarked to support Food Banks during this crisis period.
May 17th 2020 Food Bank & Food Box.  They continue to do amazing work in our community, delivering even more bags of food and ready meals to those in need.  They do need your support in prayer, and giving, and this week they need freezer space following a huge generous donation from a supermarket!  If that happens again and you can help because your freezer has a free drawer or some space,please contact Jan or Adrian.  Food Bank: 01249 655458; Food Box: 01249 448530.
April 26th 2020 Number of boxes and bags of food delivered and families/individuals helped continues to increase each week.  Food Bank still needs support, either financial [one-off or regular donations] or actual shopping dropped off at the Salvation Army.  And from the Food Box: Foodbox @ St Peters delivers to doorsteps almost 100 times / 5 days.  Food reaches 110+ adults & 120 children!  If in need - just ask!
